Wow. That was a pretty good post. Way to go.

Reminds me of an article I saw in the paper last week about a time capsule that was opened. The time capsule was created in 1949. In it, 44 United States governors placed their predictions about what they thought education in 1999 would be like. The then-governor of Maryland predicted TV would play a role, although he wasn't sure what role that would be. My favorite was the governor who thought that students would travel via anti-gravity devices to other planets, a different classroom for each planet. Yeah! That's what I thought, too!

Show of hands, people. How many of you used to watch the Jetsons in the 60s and long for the day when you would use the same mode of transportation that Elroy Jetson used to get to The Little Dipper elementary school? I was sure jet packs, fueled by a clean, renewable energy source, would be de rigueur for all of us by now, if for no other reason than because the world had become weary of choking on fossil fuels. As it is, though, electric cars are just beginning to be cranked out by the Big Three and Japan.

Color me disappointed.

I did see the Dick Tracy style videophone on TV recently. They're quite the mini-rage in Japan, so I guess they'll be as common as cell phones in the states within the next 5 years.
